Our History
Mishmeres Hashalom was founded by Rebbetzin Suri Wertzberger in 2001. She was inspired originally by her high school principal, Rav Shalom Goldstein zt”l, and encouraged by the Manchester Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Yehuda Zev Segal zt”l. Today over 120,000 families are involved in Mishmeres Hashalom's many programs. We have more than 8,000 volunteers who are in personal contact with their neighbors in their buildings. They arrange monthly meetings for the women and children, encouraging all to learn the halachos of Shemiras Halashon. They also personally hand out our monthly magazine. Large numbers of kollelim, yeshivas and schools study the laws of Shemiras Halashon in depth through our programs proving their mastery in monthly exams. The inspiring monthly magazine and middos campaigns are currently issued in four languages — Hebrew, English, Yiddish, and French, transforming many more families and communities.
